Theodor Mantel

Theodor Mantel (born December 28, 1942 in Munich ) is a German veterinarian and veterinary director a. D. and emeritus professors .

Life

Mantel studied veterinary medicine at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich from 1962 and, like many of his family members, became a member of the Corps Bavaria there . In 1966 he passed his exams in 1967 received his doctorate he with magna cum laude to the Dr. med. vet. In addition, he passed the examination for the state veterinary service in 1969. With this qualification, he headed the Bavarian State Institute for Animal Disease Control (today LGL ) in Oberschleißheim as an institute veterinarian from 1970 to 1976 .

From 1976 to 2007 he was the official veterinarian in the Eichstätt district , from 1978 head of the state veterinary office .

In 1985 he received a teaching position at the veterinary faculty of the LMU for the subject of animal disease control . Mantel has been an honorary professor there since 2004 . In addition, he held numerous functions in veterinary medicine at the state and federal level. From 1991 to 2003 he was Vice President of the Bavarian Chamber of Veterinarians , from 2003 to 2012 President of the Bavarian Chamber of Veterinarians and finally from 2008 to 2015 President of the Federal Chamber of Veterinarians . He is honorary chairman of the Federal Veterinary Association to this day.
