Thomas Kleine (born December 28, 1977 in Wermelskirchen ) is a former German soccer player and current co-soccer coach in the service of Fortuna Düsseldorf .
Career as a player
societies
In his youth, Kleine played for SV Wermelskirchen from 1983 to 1998 and then moved to the amateurs of Bayer 04 Leverkusen . He played his first of ten Bundesliga games for Bayer in the 2001/02 season. In 2003/04 he moved to second division SpVgg Greuther Fürth and was captain of the team for two and a half years . In four years he played 130 second division games and scored 13 goals. This made him the most dangerous defender in the second division in the 2006/07 season. In July 2007 he moved to Hannover 96 in the Bundesliga . For Hannover 96 he played nine games and scored one goal. After half a year he changed again: From January 27, 2008, Kleine played for Borussia Mönchengladbach . With Borussia he was second division champion in the 2007/08 season and was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga, scoring two goals in eight appearances.
Borussia did not extend the expiring contract with Kleine; In the summer of 2010, the defender returned to the second division Greuther Fürth, where he signed a contract until June 30, 2012 and was again captain of the team. At the end of the 2011/12 season , the SpVgg rose to the Bundesliga for the first time .
National team
In the German national team, Thomas Kleine only played in Ankara on April 30, 2003, when the team played 0-0 against Turkey's A2 team in 2006 .
Career as a coach
After the end of his professional career, Kleine became assistant coach of Mirko Reichel in the second team (U-23) of SpVgg Greuther Fürth for the 2014/15 season . In addition, he was responsible for promoting the talent of the young players in the transition area from the U-17 to the licensed team. On February 23, 2015, he took over the coaching position of the U-23 of the SpVgg after Reichel had been appointed assistant coach of the first team, and ended his career as an active player. In addition, since the 2016/17 season he has been working alongside Michael Schiele as Stefan Ruthenbeck's assistant trainer for the professionals at SpVgg Greuther Fürth. On October 9, 2017, Kleine was appointed as the new assistant coach at Fortuna Düsseldorf alongside Axel Bellinghausen .
In March 2018, Kleine successfully passed his coaching course and received the DFB football instructor license .
