Tierna Lillis Davidson (born September 19, 1998 in Menlo Park , California ) is an American national soccer player who has been under contract with NWSL participant Chicago Red Stars since the 2019 season .

Career

Davidson played for Stanford University's team , the Stanford Cardinal , from 2016 to 2018 . In 2017 she led the Cardinals to the NCAA championship. Since the 2019 season, Davidson has been playing for the Chicago Red Stars , whom they voted first overall in the 2019 NWSL College Draft. With the Red Stars she finished the league round in second place. In the semi-finals of the final round, the Portland Thorns were defeated 1-0, but the final lost 4-0 to North Carolina Courage .

National team

In December 2015, at the age of 17, she won the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship with the U-20 team . She had her first appearance in the senior national team as a replacement for Becky Sauerbrunn, who was injured on the foot, on January 21, 2018 in a 5-1 win against Denmark . She played over 90 minutes and prepared the interim 2-1 for Julie Ertz in the 19th minute . Shortly thereafter, she competed with the US U-20 team in the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship . In the final against Mexico she was substituted on in the second half and four minutes later she scored the 1-1 equalizer. Since it stayed that way, it came to penalties , which was lost 2: 4, where she was the last player to win for the USA.

At the subsequent SheBelieves Cup 2018 in March she was used in the three games, played the full distance and won the tournament with her team. She was also able to win the Tournament of Nations 2018 in July with her team, playing over 90 minutes in each of the two games against Brazil and Japan .

At the FIFA U-20 World Cup women's 2,018 in August, for the U-20 team U-20 Championship had qualified second in the CONCACAF, they did not participate, as they continue nominated for the A-team was.

On August 31, 2018, she scored her first goal for the senior national team in a 3-0 win over Chile . She was out for the rest of the year due to a broken ankle in a game for the Cardinals. On May 1, 2019, she was nominated as the youngest player for the US squad for the 2019 World Cup . But she was only used in the group game against Chile, when most of the regular players were not used, but played over 90 minutes there.
