Ties Rabe (born November 14, 1960 in Hamburg ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He has been Hamburg's Senator for Schools and Vocational Training since March 2011 and was previously a member of the Hamburg Parliament from 2008 .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in Wentorf in 1979 and doing his community service at the Bethesda Hospital in Hamburg-Bergedorf , Rabe completed a teaching degree in religion, German and history from 1981 to 1989 . From 1990 to 2002 he was editor and editor-in - chief at the Elbe-Wochenblatt and from 2002 to 2006 regional manager of the SPD Hamburg. Ties Rabe worked as a teacher at Luisen-Gymnasium Bergedorf from 2006 until he was appointed Senator of the School and Vocational Training Authority .

He has been married since 1983 and has three children.

Ties Rabe has been chairman of the SPD Bergedorf since 2001. His dismissal as managing director of the Hamburg SPD in late summer 2006 led to resentment in parts of the SPD, and the Hamburg media also reported on the procedure. In spring 2007 he was elected as a member of the state executive after a serious crisis in the Hamburg SPD.

In February 2008, he was in the state election on the constituency Bergedorf move as a deputy in the Hamburg Parliament. There he was the specialist spokesman for the education and school sectors for his parliamentary group. He was also a member of the school committee and the environmental committee.

On March 16, 2011 it was announced that he would become the Senator for Education of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. On March 23, 2011, Rabe was appointed Senator and President of the School and Vocational Training Authority and confirmed by the citizenship ( Senate Scholz I ). His citizenship mandate is suspended during Senate membership.

Rabe was President of the Conference of Education Ministers in 2012 .

Since 2015, Rabe has been the coordinator of the SPD-governed federal states for education and science and a co-opted member of the Presidium of the Conference of Ministers of Education.

On February 23, 2020, Rabe again succeeded in moving into the Hamburg citizenship .
