The Tigerpalast is a 1988 by Johnny Klinke , Margareta Dillinger and Matthias Beltz based vaudeville -Theater in Frankfurt . It uses a former assembly hall of the Salvation Army in Heiligkreuzgasse , a small parallel street of the Zeil in the north-eastern city center, as a venue .

history

After five years of preparation, including a two-year building renovation, the Tiger Palace opened its doors on September 30, 1988. At that time, only the Hansa-Theater in Hamburg-St. Georg the tradition of a year-round vaudeville theater.

Margareta Dillinger is the artistic director of the program. Two revues are staged annually . From Tuesday to Sunday, there are two performances every day, in which international variety artists and circus performers appear. The Tigerpalast Ensemble occasionally appears in guest performances in and around Frankfurt; at the Hessentag 2005 in Weilburg and 2012 in Wetzlar , as well as for the opening event of the Confederations Cup 2005 with a high wire run in the new Commerzbank-Arena . On May 23, 2008, the Tigerpalast also hosted the 200th anniversary of the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce with around 3,000 guests.

Over the years, numerous stars of the international variety scene have appeared in a hall with 190 seats and a stage measuring six by four meters. These include co-founder Matthias Beltz as emcee , the escape artist Hans Moretti , the jugglers Anthony Gatto , Ernest Montego , Francis Brunn and Kris Kremo , the acrobatic dancer Nathalie Enterline and the pickpocket Borra . High rope and trapeze artists as well as predator tamers were also part of the program. Entertainers such as Max Raabe , Georgette Dee and Liliane Montevecchi also appeared on stage.

In 1994, an initiative by the Tigerpalast brought about a high point in the city of Frankfurt's 1200th anniversary celebrations. On June 12, 1994, the French artist Philippe Petit stretched a 300 meter long rope between Paulskirche and cathedral and performed a thirty-minute high wire run on it . At a height of 60 to 70 meters he mimicked important events from Frankfurt history. The performance was accompanied by the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra of the Hessian Broadcasting Corporation .

Margareta Dillinger and Johnny Klinke were awarded the Goethe Plaque of the State of Hesse on February 9, 2007 for their cultural merits . The Tigerpalast receives the Binding Culture Prize and the Hessian Culture Prize of 2018.

The Tigerpalast includes the starred Tiger gourmet restaurant , where Coskun Yurdakul works as head chef, and the Palastbar-Restaurant.
