Tom Weilandt (born April 27, 1992 in Rostock , also called "Hille" after his father) is a German football player who is used as a two-footed offensive player , especially in midfield , but also as a striker . The two-time youth national team of the DFB began his career with Hansa Rostock in the 3rd division and in the 2nd Bundesliga .

Career

Youth in Rostock

As the son of professional soccer player Hilmar Weilandt , born in Rostock, midfielder Tom Weilandt first worked in the youth departments of the local clubs SV Warnemünde and LSG Elmenhorst . In 2003, Weilandt moved to Hansa Rostock's youth department as a D-youth , following in the footsteps of his father, who had played for the club in the Bundesliga from 1980 to 2002 .

Weilandt played for Rostock from 2007 in the U-17 Bundesliga , which was founded in the same year , in which he scored two goals in a total of 20 appearances in the 2007/08 premiere season and thus contributed to fifth place in the final table this season. In the following season 2008/09 Weilandt ran 23 times for Hansa in the U-17 Bundesliga, where he contributed six goals to fourth place. Because of his performances for Rostock's U-17s, Weilandt had also been able to recommend himself for the next higher year of the Hanseatic League, for whom he completed three missions in the 2008/09 season of the U-19 Bundesliga .

Subsequently, Weilandt also belonged to the U-19s supervised by Michael Hartmann , in which he also drew the attention of the German Football Association in 2009/10 , for whose U-18 selection he was substituted on twice under coach Marco Pezzaiuoli in December 2009 was used. With 26 appearances in the U-19 Bundesliga, Weilandt was one of the top performers of the Rostock team, which this season reached the championship of its Bundesliga relay for the first time and thus qualified for the final round of the German youth championship. In this, Weilandt played both the semi-finals against 1. FSV Mainz 05 and the final against Bayer 04 Leverkusen , in which Hansa became German A youth champions for the first time with a 1-0 win.

Beginnings at Hansa

In 2010/11 , Weilandt, who attended the Christophorus School in Rostock during this time , initially continued to play for Hansa's A-youth in the U-19 Bundesliga, which, under coach Roland Kroos, was unable to match the success of the previous year. Nevertheless, Weilandt played with good performances in the focus of the professional team, which was relegated to the 3rd division for the first time in the 2010/11 season , so that he was scheduled by coach Peter Vollmann for the licensed team for the following season 2011/12. After Rostock had already achieved the safe promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga prematurely, Weilandt played his first appearance in a professional league on the 36th matchday of the third division in the game against SV Wehen Wiesbaden . Then he ran again for Rostock's A-Jugend, who had also reached the finals of the 2010/11 DFB Junior Club Cup thanks to Weilandt's participation - but there the team was defeated by SC Freiburg on penalties.

Shortly before the start of preparations for the 2011/12 second division season , Weilandt signed his first professional contract with FC Hansa, which was initially dated for two years until June 30, 2013. Although he initially ran up sporadically for the Rostock reserve team in the Oberliga Nordost , Weilandt then managed to become a permanent part of the Rostock second division team during the first half of the season, which was initially used in twelve season games. In the last of these missions, which he played against St. Pauli on matchday 15 , Weilandt was sent off the pitch after a few minutes due to assault and banned for the following three games, whereupon he only got his place back in the Rostock team in February 2012 . Meanwhile, the relegation-threatened club had already replaced coach Vollmann with Wolfgang Wolf after the end of the first half of the season, under whom Weilandt now completed twelve second round appearances, with his first goal in the professional field in the game against Düsseldorf in early April 2012. Ultimately Hansa rose end of the season but again in the 3. Liga from, whereupon the same time in the Bundesliga rising SpVgg Greuther Fürth Weilandt tried to oblige. Since the clubs could not agree on a transfer payment, the change did not take place at first.

In the 2012/13 season , Weilandt then managed to play in Rostock's regular formation , initially under Wolfgang Wolf and from the ninth game day under his successor Marc Fascher , so that he came to a total of 34 missions and scored seven goals. Instead of the desired promotion, Hansa played against further relegation to the fourth division, which was only averted on the penultimate game day. Weilandt then did not extend his expiring contract with Hansa, which was also courted by MSV Duisburg and Karlsruher SC .

Weilandt at Greuther Fürth

In June 2013 SpVgg Greuther Fürth , who had only recently been relegated from the Bundesliga to the 2nd Bundesliga , signed a contract with SpVgg for three years. He crowned his league debut for Fürth on July 21, 2013 (1st matchday) in a 2-0 win in the home game against Arminia Bielefeld with the first goal, the goal that made it 1-0 in the 3rd minute. After the contract expires, Weilandt will leave the club at the end of the 2015/16 season .
