Career
Ski jumping
Tomasz Pochwała started ski jumping at his home club TS Wisła Zakopane at the age of eleven and completed his first international jumping on August 5, 2000 as part of the Summer Grand Prix 2000 in Hinterzarten . In team jumping he reached 9th place together with Adam Małysz , Robert Mateja and Wojciech Skupień . On January 6, 2001, he competed in a World Cup competition for the first time on the large hill in Bischofshofen , which he finished in 46th place. At the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2001 in Finland's Lahti he reached the fifth place in the team competition. In his second World Cup competition on November 23, 2001 in Kuopio , he was able to achieve World Cup points for the first time after jumping to 29th place on the large hill. After jumping into the points several times during the season, he finished the 2001/02 World Cup season in 53rd place in the overall standings.
At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , he was 40th on the normal hill, 43rd on the large hill and 6th in team jumping. After several World Cup competitions with very changing results, he was in the squad for the 2002 Ski Flying World Championships in Harrachov , where he finished 31st. After the 2002/03 season started only mediocre, Pochwała was taken from the senior national team and jumped from January 1, 2003 in the Continental Cup . On January 18th he jumped again in the national group at the World Cup show jumping in Zakopane , but after successfully qualifying he was only able to occupy the lowest places.
At the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2003 in the Italian Val di Fiemme he did not get beyond the 39th place on the normal hill. So he continued to jump in the Continental Cup and was only called up for team jumping in the World Cup squad. In between he also jumped in the lower-class FIS Cup and in FIS races . In 2006 he was called up again in the A national team and jumped to the 38th place in the first competition and 48th in the second competition at the World Cup competition on January 21, 2006 in Sapporo . It was his last appearance in the World Cup so far.
