Tommy Ruskin

Tommy Ruskin (* 15. July 1942 in Kansas City (Missouri) ; † 1. January 2015 ) was an American jazz - drummer , 50 years has been active in the music scene of Kansas City.

Ruskin attended Southwest High School, began playing drums as a teenager, and soon began working as a professional musician in his hometown. in the course of his career he played a. a. with Pat Metheny , Zoot Sims , Clark Terry , Al Cohn , Scott Hamilton , Gene Harris , Bill Watrous , Carl Fontana , Mike Metheny and Billy Eckstine . In the field of jazz he was involved in 13 recording sessions between 1983 and 2008, including a. at Jay McShann . Ruskin led the rhythm section in the Topeka Jazz Workshop for a long time. He was married to the singer Julie Turner; their son Brian Ruskin is a guitarist and singer.
