Tony Bongiovi

Tony Bongiovi (born September 7, 1947 in Raritan / New Jersey ) is an American sound engineer and record producer .

In the 1960s, Bongiovi worked as a sound engineer on Motown record productions by Stevie Wonder , Gladys Knight and the Pips , Diana Ross & The Supremes , The Temptations and others. In 1968 he was hired by Record Plant and developed his own sound here, which was recorded in recordings with musicians such as Vanilla Fudge , Dr. John , John McLaughlin and Jimi Hendrix is documented. In 1970 the producer came to Media Sound and worked there with Gloria Gaynor , The Isley Brothers , The Ramones ( Leave Home and Rocket to Russia ) and Talking Heads ( Talking Heads: 77 ).

In 1977, Bongiovi founded Power Station Studios . Here he produced heavy metal and hard rock musicians such as Aerosmith ( Rock in a Hard Place , Classics Live and Classics Live 2 ), Helix ( No Rest for the Wicked ), Meat Loaf ( Dead Ringer ), Ozzy Osbourne ( Bark at the Moon ), and Aldo Nova ( Aldo Nova ). His cousin Jon Bon Jovi , whose career he had significantly promoted, was also one of the studio's musicians from 1980. In the following years, Bongiovi worked as a studio designer for Record Plant , Media Sound , Masterdisk and Turner Broadcasting .
