Tony Reading

Anthony "Tony" Reading (* 1940 in Hendon , Middlesex , England ) is a British production designer and art director .

Life

Campbell began his career on the film staff in 1961 as an uncredited draftsman on the set of José Quintero's drama The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone . Other films followed in this capacity without credit , including Stanley Kubrick's science fiction film 2001: A Space Odyssey , before he worked his way up to assistant art director. Between the late 1970s and the mid-1980s, he worked as art director on a number of major British film productions, including Superman , Krull and The Bounty , and eventually made the leap to Hollywood .

In 1982 he was nominated for the Oscar in the category Best Production Design for Miloš Forman's literary adaptation Ragtime together with John Graysmark , Patrizia von Brandenstein , George DeTitta Sr. , George DeTitta Jr. and Peter Howitt , but the award went to Steven Spielbergs Jäger that year of the lost treasure . Campbell's other films include Clint Eastwood's White Hunter, Black Heart , the James Bond film James Bond 007 - Tomorrow Never Dies and Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code - The Da Vinci Code . In 2007, he was nominated for the Excellence in Production Design Award of the Art Directors Guild for the Dan Brown film adaptation .
