Tschornaja Retschka ( Russian Чёрная речка , German Black River ) is a subway station on the Moskowsko-Petrogradskaya line of the Saint Petersburg Metro . Geographically, the station is located in the southeast of Primorsky Rajon on a peninsula between the Great Neva in the south and the eponymous Chornaya Rechka river in the north and east. The entrance to the train station is in the northeast corner of a small park on Akademika Krylova ulitsa .

The station, which is about 62 meters deep, was put into operation on November 6, 1982 as part of the northern extension of Line 2, together with the Pionerskaya and Udelnaya stations .

The above-ground part of the Chornaya Retschka underground station is very functional. The entrance hall consists of a two-storey flat - roof building with a large glass facade on the north side, where a small forecourt adjoins the slightly elevated building. In 2009, the glass front, which had been subtly curved outwards, was replaced by a polygonal, protruding pavilion in order to create more space for business premises in the above-ground hall.

The architects of the surface structure were WG Chiltschenko, IJ Sergejewa and NA Vinogradov.

The platform hall of the station, which is located far underground, is designed as a white barrel vault with eight chandeliers placed in the middle above the platform . The side of the vault is bounded by an approximately draft-high, dark tile wall made of labradorite . At the transition between the vault and the side wall, there is a light border made of ceramic tiles and white marble , set off with golden decorative strips , on which the station name is repeatedly affixed at regular intervals. The track troughs are on the sides so that the station has a wide central platform . In the middle under the chandeliers there are panels for passenger information . The access is at the southern end of the hall between the two tunnel entrances. The three escalators to the surface can be reached via a short flight of stairs from the platform level.

The architects GN Buldakow, WN Scherbin and AP Wolkow were responsible for the design of the underground facility.

Pushkin Monument

At the northern end of the platform hall, a monument in the form of a bronze statue was erected in memory of the Russian poet Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin on the 145th anniversary of his death . The super-human-sized figure, made by the artist Michail Anikuschin , stands raised on a plinth in front of a wall made of light-colored tiles, which creates the necessary contrast to the dark statue.

Pushkin died in 1837 as a result of a duel that was held not far from where the metro station is today.
