List of stations on the Saint Petersburg Metro
This list of stations of the Saint Petersburg Metro contains all metro stations of Saint Petersburg Metro , which are in operation. As of December 2012, the Saint Petersburg metro network consists of five lines with a total of 69 stations. There is also a decommissioned station, others are under construction or in the planning stage.
With the opening of the Ploshchad Vosstaniya - Avtowo section on November 15, 1955, the subway became part of the local public transport system in Russia's second largest city . According to the name of the metropolis at that time, it was called Metro Leningrad until the collapse of the Soviet Union . The total length of over 124 kilometers makes the line network the second largest metro system in Russia after the Moscow Metro .
The Saint Petersburg Metro is one of the deepest underground railways in the world. Only five stations, including the disused one, are above ground. More than three quarters of the train stations are at least 50 meters below the surface of the earth. The Admiralteiskaya station tracks are 86 meters deep ; the structure extends to a depth of 102 meters.
Most train stations only have one entrance and one exit, which leads to the surface via escalators. Transfer hubs usually consist of several interconnected train stations, each of which serves a line and has its own name. Usually there is access to the surface at one end of the platform and the transition to the connected stations at the other. The only train station that serves two lines is Technologichesky Institute . Trains from both lines stop at its two platforms, which can be reached via a shared vestibule entrance .
Lines
The five existing lines of the Saint Petersburg Metro are shown briefly in the following table. The main articles on the individual lines contain an overview of the associated stations in the respective line.

Stations
The following table lists the stations in operation. It is arranged alphabetically according to the German transcription of the station names. The specified depth of a station corresponds to the distance between the platform level and the surface of the earth. Stations with a depth of “0 m” are above ground. If a station offers transfer options to other lines, the column transfer and transfer options names the other lines with the names of the transfer stations. Connections to other public transport are also listed here. If the list is sorted by lines, the stations are sorted according to their sequence from north to south or from west to east on the respective line. The Technologitscheski Institut transfer station will then not be listed again within line 2; it lies here between the stations of Sennaya Ploshchad and Frunzenskaya .
To describe the location, the Rajon (German: 'District') is given in which the station is located. Saint Petersburg is divided into 18 Rajons . The only station outside the metropolitan area of Saint Petersburg is Devyatkino . It is located in Leningrad Oblast , there in Vsevoloschsk Raion . The Kuptschino station is on the border between the Moskovsky and Frunzensky Rajons and has exits to both districts. By clicking on the icon in the following column, you can view the location of each station on different maps.
The list also includes the only disused station, Datschnoje (Saint Petersburg Metro) , whose track system is now used as a vehicle depot. This station is highlighted with a gray background.

expansion
The expansion of the metro network will create new lines and new stations. Several stations are already in different phases of completion. The plans to expand the subway system had to be overhauled several times because there were repeated delays, mainly due to a lack of money.
After the opening of the Admiralteiskaya station at the end of 2011, a transition to line 3 is to be created through another station on line 5. The work for this transfer station has not yet started (as of August 2011).
Remarks
- ↑ a b The number of operating stations listed in this list is not 67, but 66 (excluding the shutdown station). The reason for the deviation is that in the Technologitscheski Institut station two lines use common platform halls. Although it is only a subway station, this station is usually counted twice, i.e. once per line. This also corresponds to the official counting method, compare the operator's website: Информация для пассажиров. Retrieved July 14, 2011 (Russian).
-
↑ a b c After the collapse of the Soviet Union , three stations were renamed on June 1, 1992:
- Dewjatkino was previously called Komsomolskaya ( Комсомо́льская ) after a nearby square that was also renamed. Komsomol was the name of the youth organization of the CPSU .
- Novocherkasskaya was previously called Krasnogwardeiskaya ( Красногварде́йская ) according to a nearby street. This was named in honor of the Red Army , which had barracks in the street.
- Sennaya Ploschtschad also follows a nearby square in the name. This and the station were called Ploschtschad Mira ( Пло́щадь Ми́ра , German: "Platz des Friedens")in Soviet times.
