Tunjuelito is the 6th district ( localidad ) of the Colombian capital Bogotá . The name is a diminutive of "Tunjo", an anthropomorphic figure of the Muisca culture made in gold . About 302,342 people live here on an area of ​​1,062 hectares.

Tunjuelito originally belonged to the Usme district before it became independent. Its topography is essentially flat, although southern barrios such as San Benito , Tunjuelito, and Abraham Lincoln are higher topographically. Tunjuelito is home to a police and artillery school, an industrial zone and the Parque Metropolitano El Tunal .
