One of the side platforms of the underground station

The Lindauer Allee subway station is located below the eponymous street on the U8 subway line in the Reinickendorf district of Berlin in the district of the same name . It is 678 meters from the Paracelsus-Bad underground station and 603 meters from the Karl-Bonhoeffer-Nervenklinik train station . In the station directory of the BVG it bears the designation Ld .

History and structure

The station was opened on September 24, 1994 together with the last extension of the U8 line towards the Märkisches Viertel .

In contrast to all other stations on the U8, this one has side platforms , both of which are accessible both via stairs and inclined lifts and are therefore barrier-free . Escalators, however, do not exist. In order to keep the interventions in the neighboring Kienhorstpark to a minimum, the Senate Administration decided on a parallel track layout, which required the construction of side platforms.

Like all stations on this part of the route, the station has a colorful design. Architect Rainer G. Rümmler used it to refer to the name or the surroundings and chose the colors green, violet, light blue and yellow with a view of the linden tree in the coat of arms of the city that gave Lindauer Straße its name .

The gallery, from which the entire station can be seen, is unusual.

Connection

At the underground station you can change from line U8 to bus line 322 of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe.
