The underground station has two side platforms about 120 meters long , each with an anteroom in the middle. Due to the low elevation, there is no mezzanine floor. Several stairs and, since May 2013, an elevator per platform lead from the vestibules directly to the surface. Platform (city foreign) from the entrance hall of the east from there next direct access to the Karstadt - Warenhaus at Easter Road.
In 2017, the station was used by an average of around 21,000 passengers a day (Mon-Fri).
history
The subway station on Osterstraße is one of the oldest stops on the Hamburg subway; it was opened in May 1914 as part of the so-called Eimsbüttel branch line. At that time, the facility still had a central platform, which was extended for the first time in the 1920s. In 1964 the subway in the Osterstraße area was shut down for several months and the subway station was completely rebuilt. Since 1965 it has had two 120 meter long side platforms; the tracks are now roughly in place of the old central platform.
The station abbreviation at the operating company Hamburger Hochbahn AG is "OS". The distance to the Lutterothstraße station is about 800 meters, to Emilienstraße it is 600 meters.
More lines
At the Osterstraße underground station there is a transition to Metrobus line 4 in the direction of Eidelstedt and the city center.
