The Rödingsmarkt is a station of the Hamburg subway - U3 . The underground station is located in the Hamburg-Altstadt district .
history
The underground station was built in 1910/11 according to plans by Raabe & Wöhlecke as part of the ring line . The platform hall spans both tracks with a flat gable roof and visible iron trusses. In keeping with the central location in Hamburg, the train station was supplemented on the north side by a representative entrance hall made of granite blocks. For almost 100 years this was the only access to the station.
It was not until 2002 that a second entrance was created on the south side under the direction of the architectural office Grundmann + Hein and all entrances were converted to make them barrier-free.
Location and expansion
The station with side platforms is in the middle of the Rödingsmarkt above the former Rödingsmarktfleet , which was filled in in 1886 . The stop bridges the street that was formerly known as Ost-West-Straße and separates its western (Ludwig-Erhard-Straße) and eastern parts (Willy-Brandt-Straße) . Since both ends of the platform are each equipped with stairs, the stop can also be used to cross the street with a valid ticket or platform card. The stop is equipped with a glass elevator on both platforms.
