Ulf Weinstock (born August 10, 1952 in Strängnäs ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player and current coach .

Career

As a player

Ulf Weinstock began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of Leksands IF , for whose professional team he was active from 1970 to 1974 in Division 1 , which was then the highest Swedish league. With his team, the defender won the Swedish championship in the 1972/73 and 1973/74 seasons . For the 1974/75 season he moved within Division 1 to Västra Frölunda IF , before he ran up again for his parent club Leksands IF in the newly founded Elitserien from 1975 to 1984 . From 1984 to 1987 the Swede competed for Stjernen Hockey in the Norwegian 1st divisjon . With Stjernen he won the Norwegian championship title in the 1985/86 season . The left shooter last played for Mörrums GoIS in the now second-class Division 1 in the 1987/88 season .

As a trainer

During his last four years as an active player, Weinstock was already active as a player coach at Stjernen and Mörrums GoIS. In the 1988/89 season he was the first time exclusively head coach at Mörrums. He then stayed in the second Swedish division, where he was in charge of Timrå IK from 1989 to 1992 . In the 1992/93 season and from 1994 to 1997 he was behind the gang at Västerviks IK . He then took over the position of head coach at the Swedish second division club Linköpings HC , with whom he was promoted to the elite series in 1999. There he was replaced by his compatriot Stefan Lunner during the 1999/2000 season . From 2000 to 2003 he worked for the Halmstad Hammers in the second class Allsvenskan . This was followed by a year with Frisk Asker in the top Norwegian league and two seasons with Allsvenskan participant IFK Arboga . For the 2006/07 season he took over the coaching position of the Odense Bulldogs from the AL-Bank Ligaen . From 2007 to 2009 he was a coach at his former Norwegian club Stjernen. In the 2009/10 season the Swede worked for the Romanian club HSC Csíkszereda in the MOL league . He then took over the coaching position at Alba Volán Székesfehérvár from Hungary, which he left in October 2010.

International

For Sweden , Weinstock took part in the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid , where he and his team won the bronze medal. He was also in his country's squad at the 1975 , 1977 , 1978 and 1979 World Championships . At the World Championships in 1975 and 1979 he and his team won the bronze medal, and at the 1977 World Cup, the silver medal.
