Uma Berloic ( Umaberloic ) is an East Timorese place and Suco in the administrative office of Alas ( Manufahi municipality ).

The place Uma Berloic is located in the north of the Sucos, at an altitude of 51  m . The primary school Escola primaria Besusu / Uma Berloic is located here .

Uma Berloic has 1,457 inhabitants (2015), of which 767 are men and 690 women. The population density is 53.8 inhabitants / km². There are 251 households in the Suco. Over 90% of the population name Tetum Terik as their mother tongue. Over 8% speak Tetum Prasa and a small minority speak Mambai .

Before the 2015 regional reform, Uma Berloic had an area of ​​39.57 km². Now it is 27.09 km². The Suco is located in the south of the Alas administrative office. To the east of southern Laclós is the Suco Dotik , to the north and west of the Suco Maha-Quidan and to the south the Timor Sea . Most of the sucos consists of swampy marshland with numerous lakes and lagoons.

The southern coastal road, one of the country's most important interurban roads, runs through the Suco. The towns of Besusu , Uma Feric , Uma Berloic and Boctaran ( Boclaran ) lie on it . To the east is the village of Colocau ( Kolakau ) with a second elementary school.

In the Suco are the four Aldeias Baria Laran , Colocau , Culuhun and Uma Feric .

history

In 1978 the population in Colocau and Besusu had gathered when the Indonesian invaders attacked. Hundreds of civilians died of hunger and disease because they could not leave the places. Including 50 refugees from Turiscai alone .

At the end of 1979 there was an Indonesian internment camp in Besusu for East Timorese who were supposed to be relocated by the occupiers for better control.

politics

In the elections of 2004/2005 was António da Costa Magalhães elected Chefe de Suco and in 2009 re-elected.
