Urša Bogataj (born March 7, 1995 in Ljubljana ) is a Slovenian ski jumper . Her greatest success so far is the win with the Slovenian team at the Junior World Championships 2013 in Liberec .

Career

Bogataj made her debut in the Continental Cup in Toblach on January 21, 2009 and made it into the points straight away as 29th. After that she jumped internationally again towards the end of the next season in Ljubno . After she did not take part in the first competition, Bogataj made it into the points again in the second competition as 30th. This season she was still in Villach and finished 33th and 29th. At the OPA Games 2010 in Eisenerz , she won the bronze medal. In the 2010/11 season she won a jumping in the Ladies Cup in Mürzzuschlag and was 11th in the overall ranking in the pupil category. In the summer of 2010 , Bogataj was able to reach the second round in three of four competitions where she competed. In winter it was regularly seen internationally for the first time. She almost always won points. She won the gold medal at the 2011 OPA Games in Baiersbronn . At the Junior World Championships in Otepää , she was eleventh. Bogataj's best results this season were two sixth places in Zakopane . In the 2011/12 Ladies Cup season she was second and first in jumping in Kisovec , was 13th in the overall ranking of the juniors category. On December 3, 2011, she made her debut in the World Cup in Lillehammer and was 20th in the Youth Olympic At the 2012 Winter Games in Innsbruck, she won bronze in the women's individual competition and silver in the team competition. At the Junior World Championships 2012 in Erzurum she jumped to 31st place in the individual and won the bronze medal in the team.

At the Slovenian Championships in 2012 , she won the bronze medal behind Katja Požun and Maja Vtič .

On January 6, 2013, she achieved her first top ten placement in a World Cup competition as tenth in Schonach . At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2013 , she finished fifth in the individual and was together with Ema Klinec , Špela Rogelj and Katja Požun Junior World Champion in the team competition. A month later she took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme . She took 17th place in the individual and was eighth with the Slovenian team in the first mixed team competition.

In the summer of 2013 Bogataj reached their first top ten placements in the Summer Grand Prix as fifth and eighth in Nizhny Tagil and seventh in Almaty . In the overall Grand Prix ranking, she finished tenth with 140 points. On January 25, 2014, she achieved her best individual placement in the World Cup to date in fourth place in Planica . At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2014 in Predazzo she finished sixth in the individual and together with Barbara Klinec , Anja Javoršek and Špela Rogelj, she won the silver medal behind Japan in the team competition. A year later she missed a medal at the Junior World Championships in Almaty as fourth in the individual and fifth in the team. She was part of the Slovenian squad at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun in 2015 and in Lahti in 2017 , but was not used as a substitute jumper in either event.

In the 2017/18 season she finished fifth in Hinterzarten and two in Zaō with the Slovenian team in the first two team competitions in the women's World Cup . With that she reached her first World Cup podium. At the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang , she finished 30th in the individual competition on the normal hill . In the overall World Cup this season, she finished ninth with 386 points, making it into the top ten for the first time. On February 8, 2019, she was able to achieve her first podium in a World Cup individual competition with third place at home jumping on the Logarska dolina in Ljubno . Only a few days later she took third place again in the World Cup jumping in Oberstdorf on February 16. At the 2019 World Championships in Seefeld in Tirol , she finished eighth in individual jumping and was fourth with both the Slovenian women’s and mixed teams. In the overall World Cup 2018/19 they finished in eleventh place.

At the end of December 2019, Bogataj tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee , which meant she was out for the rest of the 2019/20 season .
