Vélez-Málaga is a city in Andalusia in southern Spain . It is located in the province of Málaga , in the eastern part of the province, the Axarquía , and forms the capital of this district, 28 kilometers from the city of Málaga .
The average annual rainfall is 470 l / m² and the average temperature is 18 ° C. The area of the place is 156 km², the population 81,643 (as of January 1, 2019). The inhabitants are called "Veleños".
Vélez-Málaga consists of several districts: Torre del Mar , Benajarafe, Triana, Trapiche, Almayate Bajo and Almayate Alto, Cajiz, Chilchez and Mezquitilla. Only about half of all inhabitants of the entire municipality live in the city of Vélez-Málaga itself.
