Volker Oppitz (born February 16, 1978 in Dresden ) is a former German soccer player and current soccer official .

Life

Volker Oppitz began playing football at Dynamo Dresden in 1984 at the age of six . He went through the entire youth area and worked his way up through the second team to the first team. Already in his first league season (2001/02) he became a regular player and made it to the regional league . In 2003, the defender , who had a strong header, continued to develop , consolidated his regular position and won the Saxony Cup . At the end of the 2003/04 season he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga . Even after relegation, he remained loyal to Dynamo Dresden and in 2009 he tied himself to Dynamo Dresden as head of defense until 2011.

In May 2010, Volker Oppitz ended his football career and started a new position as assistant to the management for the sports division at Dynamo Dresden. Due to quarrels regarding the appointment of a new managing director at Dynamo Dresden, Volker Oppitz was initially appointed as interim managing director for a period of three months on June 10, 2010 and was then appointed managing director. On February 1, 2012, he resigned as managing director at Dynamo Dresden for health reasons and resigned from his position.

Oppitz studied economics at the TU Dresden and received his doctorate from the Comenius University in Bratislava . His father is the economist and financial mathematician Volker Oppitz .
