Volkmar Laube

Volkmar Laube (born January 31, 1960 in Magdeburg ) is a freelance journalist and book author . He became known for various publications on sports topics.

education and profession

After attending the Polytechnic High School in Magdeburg from 1966 to 1976, he completed an apprenticeship as a vehicle fitter at the Deutsche Reichsbahn . After completing his apprenticeship, he did three years of military service in the National People's Army from 1978 . He then worked in Magdeburg until 1990 in the FDJ , which he represented at the round table in the region in 1989/1990 . Parallel to his professional activity, he took up a distance learning course in political science at the “Edwin Hoernle” technical school in Weimar. In 1990 he started his own business as a journalist and did not continue his studies. He founded the company MDsport .

From 2000, Laube wrote various books on topics related to sport. Since 2003 he has been the publisher and editor-in-chief of the football magazine Sachsen-Anhalt .

In 2016 he founded the MDsport Academy , which organizes fair play tournaments and soccer holiday camps , among other things. The Olympic and European Cup champion in football, Martin Hoffmann, is also part of the sporting leadership .

Sports as active / honorary positions

Laube operated judo as a competitive sport for SG Dynamo Magdeburg from 1965 to 1978 . He reached the 1st Kyū (brown belt) and was sixth in the GDR championship in 1978. In addition, he was district champion of the Magdeburg district in all age groups and was Vice-SV-GDR champion in 1975.

From 1998 to 2000 Volkmar Laube was on the board of the junior economists of the Magdeburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry and was its chairman in 2000. At Magdeburger SV Börde 1949 , he was a board member and head of the football department from 2004 to 2007 . Volkmar Laube is a member of the German Association of Journalists in Saxony-Anhalt. From April 2011 to May 2016 he acted as press spokesman for the  Saxony-Anhalt Football Association . In the State Sports Association of Saxony-Anhalt he has been active as a democracy trainer and conflict manager in club counseling and educational work since 2012 as part of the project Humanity and Tolerance in Sport.

Laube is married and has a son (* 1992). The family has lived in Barleben near Magdeburg since 1992 .
