Walter Dürst

Walter Paul "Watschga" Dürst (born February 28, 1927 in Davos ; † May 2, 2016 ) was a Swiss ice hockey player . His brother Hans and his son Walter junior were also ice hockey players.

Career

Walter Dürst took part in the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz and 1952 in Oslo for the Swiss national team. At the 1948 Winter Games, he and his team won the bronze medal. He was also in his country's squad at the World Championships in 1950 and 1951 , where he also won the bronze medal. As the best European team, Switzerland became European champions in 1950. At club level he played for HC Davos .

When he attended a master class at the Schlosstal technical school in Winterthur in 1948 , he played for the EHC Veltheim for a short time , whereby the HC Davos even paid Veltheim something so that it could play there.
