life and work

Walter Moser is the son of the architect Alois Moser (1900–1972), who himself built a number of new churches, such as the Catholic churches in Würenlos , Killwangen and Untersiggenthal . Walter Moser graduated from the Rämibühl Zurich Cantonal School , today's Mathematisch Naturwissenschaftliche Gymnasium (MNG), in 1950 with the Matura and then studied architecture at the ETH Zurich , which he graduated in 1955. In the following years, father Alois Moser and son Walter Moser realized the new church buildings in Langenthal BE and St. Maria Emmenbrücke LU . From 1958 to 1960 Walter Moser lived in Finland , where he worked in the Helsinki office of Alvar Aalto , whose work shaped him. In 1960 Walter Moser returned to Switzerland and founded his own architectural office in Zurich. He took part in architecture competitions, through which he was able to realize notable orders in the field of Catholic sacred buildings in German-speaking Switzerland and in neighboring countries. Since the 1970s, Walter Moser has also carried out renovation and renovation projects at important historical and contemporary churches. Among the secular buildings by Walter Moser, the projects in the newly built Grünau district in Zurich should be mentioned (Grünau nursing home, Grünau district center, school, kindergarten and indoor swimming pool), which characterize the district. Walter Moser worked on his projects with well-known painters and sculptors, u. a. Max Rüedi , Herbert Albrecht , Otto Müller , Alfred Huber , Hans Christen and Max Hellstern. Walter Moser is a member of the Association of Swiss Architects BSA. Walter Moser has been running the architecture office together with his son Andreas Moser since 1984.
