François Walthéry (born January 17, 1946 in Agenteau near Liège , Belgium ) is a Belgian comic artist .

François Walthéry published his first comic series “Pip et Compagnie” at the age of 16 in the weekly magazine Junior . A year later he applied in vain to the well-known Spirou magazine . He had more success in the studio of the draftsman Peyo , where he was soon responsible for the decorations for the Smurfs and Johann and Pfiffikus . Here he internalized the Franco-Belgian École Marcinelle down to the last detail, so that in 1963 he succeeded Wills in the series " Jacky et Celestin ".

After completing his military service (in Germany), he took over the graphic design of the Benni Bärenstark series from Peyo . In the coming years Walthéry developed the character of the flight attendant Natascha together with the copywriters Roland Goossens and Yvan Delporte , with whom he has designed around 20 successful albums since 1970 . It became by far his most famous creation. In Germany, the flawless Funny series was first published by Kauka under the title “Katja” until the Bastei Verlag published it in 1984 under the title “Natascha” (French: Natacha ). After that, German editions were published by Feest , Carlsen and currently, since 2004, by Salleck Publications . In addition, Walthery publishes two other funny series with pretty heroines. On the one hand, he developed the crime series Rubine with the draftsman Dragan de Lazare and the copywriter Mythic around the eponymous heroine, of which thirteen individual and four anthologies have been published since 1993 and published in German by Epsilon Verlag . On the other hand, the series “Ich, die Sexbombe” ( Une femme dans la peau ), conceived in 1994 with the copywriter Fritax, has been published since 2000 and has so far been published in four volumes in Germany by B & L Verlag . Finally, there are the two-volume series "Der kleine Nickel" (French Le p'tit bout d'chique , published in German by Carlsen Verlag), the two-volume series "Der alte Blaue" (French Le Vieux bleu , Volume 1 in German by Salleck -Publications) and the series "Die Fliegerin" (French: L'Aviatrice , in German by Salleck-Publications), launched in 2015 .
