Wee Flowers (2007)

Wee Flowers (* 1960 in Oldenburg ) is a German pop portrait painter, musician and DJ .

Life

Fascinated by the first impressions of "Swinging London" and the " Summer of Love " in her childhood in the 1960s, she consciously experienced the 1970s in England: the fuss about David Bowie and the glittering world of Glam Rock and the creative early days of Punk . After studying in Munich, she moved No Wave Music and Art to West Berlin . Since then, Wee Flowers has worked as a painter and is temporarily a musician and muse for the band Rubbermind Revenge . In addition to regular exhibitions, in the late 80s she organized concerts with her partner Petra Hammerer under the name “Hellraiser Club” and wrote and photographed for various rock magazines. The opening of her own gallery "Darling" - a mix of a boutique for fashion trends from London and Japan and an underground gallery and the "Micro Disco" - in Berlin-Schöneberg took place in 1995.

After numerous exhibitions and appearances as a DJ, she is culturally drawn to the south. From 2005 to 2008 Wee Flowers lived and worked in parallel in Berlin and Palma and has been cooperating with the Strychnin Gallery since 2009.

Artistic creation

The ideals of the 60s shape the Wee Flowers style. The idols of her childhood -  Twiggy , the Rolling Stones and Bowie - also appear again and again in her works, each of which has its own soundtrack. For some years now, the faces have also developed into distinct characters, which are summarized in a family saga under the title The Otterbourne Villa .
