Westenhanger is a small English town in southeast Kent . It is located approx. 5 km northwest of Hythe and immediately south of junction 11 of the M20 motorway . Watling Street or Stone Street is a Roman road from Lympne to Canterbury that runs through the city. In the 2011 census, the residents of Stanford, Kent, were counted (429).

Westenhanger is home to the Folkestone Racecourse, (1898–2012), which also served as an airfield for the Royal Air Force during World War II . The Westenhanger Castle is located next to the racetrack .

Westenhanger has its own train station, which is served by the Southeastern Railway Company, which runs between Charing Cross and Dover via Ashford .

In September 2016, entomologists from Public Health England found eggs of the Asian tiger mosquito for the first time in Great Britain at a truck stop near a Wesenhanger petrol station (Folkstone service station) .
