Where Hands Touch is a British romantic war drama by Amma Asante from the year 2018 with Amandla Stenberg , George MacKay , Abbie Cornish , Christopher Eccleston and Tom Sweet in the lead roles.

The film premiered on September 9, 2018 at the 43rd Toronto International Film Festival . On May 20, 2017, Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions acquired the distribution rights to the film, with the exception of selected areas in Europe and Australia. It was shown in cinemas in the USA beginning on September 14, 2018 by the film distributor Vertical Entertainment .

The film is a story about the growing up of a mixed race child of a German mother and an African father who falls in love with a member of the Hitler Youth and struggles to survive in Nazi Germany . The protagonist, Leyna, is portrayed as a German nationalist with anti-Semitic attitudes. The boy she falls in love with, Lutz, is the son of a high-ranking SS officer and is initially a staunch member of the Hitler Youth.

After Leyna and Lutz fall in love with each other, she becomes pregnant. However, she is sent to a Nazi labor camp, where she has to keep her pregnancy a secret (as she supposedly should have been sterilized ). Lutz is also stationed as an SS guard in the labor camp. After a bombing by the Americans, he tries to flee with Leyna, but is killed by his father. Leyna remains on the ground in shock until an American soldier comes to take her away. Seven weeks later she is heavily pregnant and reunites with her mother and brother.

Filming for the film began in November 2016 and was completed in December 2016. The film was shot in Belgium (Werister coal mine) and on the Isle of Man .

The average review rating of Rotten Tomatoes is 40 percent, based on 47 reviews, with an average rating of 5.34 / 10. The consensus of the website is: " Where Hands Touch is noteworthy for its exploration of a little-discussed corner of World War II, even if its story leaves something to be desired in the telling." The film became black for the romanticization of Nazis and fetishization Criticized women.
