The lyrics to Wir we were is written in German. The music was written jointly by Count and Roland Spremberg and the text jointly written by Count and Andreas Bourani. Musically, the song moves in the area of pop music . The Count begins in the first stanza and Bourani joins it. In the second stanza it happens exactly the opposite. The chorus is sung by both of them.

“(As we) as we were.
(Free like us) that's how I want to be.
(As we) as we were.
Our dreams are still the same. "

- Refrain, original excerpt

According to information from hr3 , “the Count” got to know Bourani at the Echo Awards 2011 and asked him spontaneously whether he would like to work with him: “I sent him the song How we were and he was able to identify with it immediately”. Ultimately, the song "grew through him". The pop ballad "About two childhood friends" was created in a studio in Cologne in just under a day and, according to the record label, is intended to be an "ode to friendship".

Music video

The official music video for How We Were premiered on August 21, 2012 on the Unheilig website. At the beginning of the clip, which is supposed to pay homage to the US film Stand by Me - The Secret of a Summer , you can see Unheilig and Andreas Bourani - separated from each other - walking on a dirt road and four children watching a woman. One of the children runs up to her and brings her something to drink, for which she receives a kiss in thanks. Then the boys run on and hide a box filled with cards between logs. Then they bathe in a lake and warm up around a campfire. A bus comes and picks up one of the four children. After a few meters, however, the boy makes a different decision, drops his suitcase and runs back to his friends. In the end, the four children, who represent fictional people from the 1950s / 1960s, run away. Bourani and the Count finally meet at an intersection. The total length of the video is 3:45 minutes. Directed by Markus Gerwinat.
