Große Freiheit is the sixth studio album by the German rock band Unheilig . It was released on February 19, 2010 and entered the German album charts at number 1. The album moves stylistically between pop and new German hardness , the latter especially in the pieces Abwärts and Unter Feuer . It was also released as a box set limited to 5,000 pieces. The album received nine platinum status in Germany, triple platinum in Austria and double platinum in Switzerland. In August 2010 it replaced Herbert Grönemeyer's Ö as the longest album by a German artist that had been at number one in the German album charts : with interruptions, it was at the top of the charts for 23 weeks. Große Freiheit finally became the most successful album of 2010 in Germany. It has sold over two million times to date.

Reviews

The album was rated very differently by the critics: Tobias Hinrichs from Plattentests.de called the album "tonal tönern" and saw in it "nothing unusual, nothing outstanding". He criticized the " Rammstein doublets", but emphasized the title Born to Live , which was reminiscent of pieces by Silbermond and an "ace in the pump sleeve" of the singer "Der Graf". Two out of ten points were awarded. On Laut.de , Ulf Kubanke wrote that the “total Lindemannization ” would “ruin many good approaches.” The record could have been the best from Unheilig, but the band faces up to various role models, such as Joachim Witt , gladly "lyrically and musically a leg myself". The editors rated the album three out of five stars. In a review on www.c-net.de it was said that the band aimed less at the head than at the heart with the album. The result is "warmer and more believable" than on the previous album Puppenspiel (2008).
