Wojciech Fibak or shorter Wojtek Fibak (born August 30, 1952 in Poznan ) is a former Polish tennis player . He celebrated his greatest successes as a doubles player with Tom Okker and Kim Warwick .
Fibak won his first tournament in 1976. The high point of his career was winning the men's doubles competition at the Australian Open in 1978 . Together with Kim Warwick he beat Paul Kronk and Cliff Letcher 7: 6, 7: 5 and won the title.
As a single player, Fibak won a total of 12 individual titles in his career. His best year was 1980, when he made it to the quarterfinals at the French Open , the US Open and Wimbledon . At the end of his active career in 1982, he had a game record of 403 wins and 241 losses.
In 1985 he founded in California the Polish Tennis Club Polish Tennis Association of Southern California .
He can also be found in Europe. Together with Ronnie Leitgeb , he promoted the career of the Austrian tennis player Thomas Muster in 1984 , which is described on page 59 in the autobiography Thomas Muster, Aufschlag, mein Leben, mein Success ( ISBN 3-900977-73-9 ). The “Common Way” section describes the cooperation and the relationship between Fibak, Leitgeb and Muster. Quote: “... Professional support is the ultimate, the prerequisite for a successful career. The way to the top is rocky, there is no guarantee ... "Wojtek Fibak is further quoted in the autobiography with the following words:" But if you don't risk anything, you won't win anything. You are both ambitious and capable of learning. I advise you. "
Fibak and his wife Ewa are among the most important collectors of 19th and 20th century Polish painting. More than 400 works by artists such as Józef Czapski , Eugeniusz marshmallow , Henri Hayden , Moise Kisling , Roman Kramsztyk , Jan. life stone , Jacek Malczewski , Mela Muter , Józef Pankiewicz , Piotr Potworowski , Zygmunt Waliszewski , Wojciech Weiss , Leon Wyczółkowski , Eugene Zak or Wacław Zawadowski are in the couple's homes in New York ( Greenwich ), near Paris (Boulogne) and in Warsaw. They were shown in exhibitions in the National Museums in Warsaw and Poznan .
