Wolf Spitzer

Wolf Spitzer (born February 19, 1940 in Speyer ) is a German sculptor .

Life

From 1961 to 1964 Spitzer studied at the State Research Institute for Horticulture Weihenstephan . Then until 1968 he attended the Werkkunstschule Darmstadt . Until 1971 Spitzer then studied in Vienna with Fritz Wotruba as a master student and with Oswald Oberhuber . In 1979/80 he was given a teaching position at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe . Scholarships took Spitzer to Paris (Cité International des Arts), Rome (Casa Baldi, Olevano) and Florence (Villa Romana guest scholarship).

Spitzer works as a national and international freelance sculptor. His main areas are portraits and so-called ribbon sculptures made of bronze or steel. His main themes include Judaism, Christianity and the humanistic issue.
