Yasuhito Endō ( Japanese 遠藤 保 仁 Endō Yasuhito ; born January 28, 1980 in Sakurajima , Kagoshima-gun (today: Kagoshima ), Kagoshima Prefecture ) is a Japanese football player . The defensive midfielder is under contract with Gamba Osaka . Since October 16, 2012, he has been the record player for the Japanese national team .
Career
society
Endō moved in 1999 from Yokohama Wing to Kyoto Purple Sanga in the J. League . In 2001 he went to Gamba Osaka . There he became a reliable and tech-savvy player. In 2002 he made his debut for the Japanese national team . He then took part in the Confederations Cup in 2005 and was used as a substitute.
National team
With Japan he won the Asian Cup in 2004 and 2011 . He was also responsible for the Football World Cup 2006 in Germany and 2010 in South Africa nominated.
On October 12, 2012, he made his 122nd international match in a 1-0 win against France , setting the record for Masami Ihara , who had been a record international player since 1995. Four days later, Endo became the sole record holder in a 4-0 draw against Brazil with his 123rd international match.
Private
Yasuhito Endō runs several football schools called Endō-juku. His older brother Akihiro Endō was also active as a football player in the J. League (for Yokohama F. Marinos and Vissel Kobe ) and is now the head coach of the Endō-juku Shin-Ōsaka.
