Yusmarg or Yousmarg is a hill station in the west of the Kashmir Valley in Jammu and Kashmir . It is located 47 km south of Srinagar .

geography

Yusmarg means "The Jesus Meadow" in the Kashmiri language . Locals believe that Jesus came to Kashmir and stayed in Yusmarg for a while. It is a mountain valley surrounded by mountains and forests with pine and spruce trees. The valley is a popular tourist destination in the northern foothills of Pir Panjal . Nearby peaks are Sunset Peak and Tatakooti , which can be reached from Yusmarg. The Hill Station is at an altitude of 2396  m .

Attractions

Nilnag Lake is four kilometers from Yusmarg. Ten kilometers away in the Sang-e-Safed Valley is a lake that is still frozen for a long time, even in summer.

traffic

Yusmarg can be reached by car or bus from Srinagar via Charari Sharief . In winter, the road connection is often interrupted for a long time due to heavy snowfall.
