Stephen Flaherty
Stephen Flaherty (born September 18, 1960 in Pittsburgh ) is an American musical composer.
Life
Stephen Flaherty began composing his own musicals at the age of 12. He studied musical composition and piano in Cincinnati . In 1982 he met Lynn Ahrens in a BMI workshop and began working with her in 1983.
He often works with Lynn Ahrens . Together they became known for the piece Once on This Island , which was nominated for eight Tony Awards , and for Ragtime , which was nominated for eleven Tony Awards and won the Best Original Score . They also worked together on the songs for the film Anastasia .
