Zafer Yelen [ zafɛr jɛlɛn ] (born August 30, 1986 in West Berlin ) is a Turkish football player .

Zafer Yelen was born in 1986 into an extended Turkish family who lived in West Berlin . He has six siblings. He finished school with an extended secondary school leaving certificate .

Career

In his youth, Yelen played for various Berlin clubs, most recently for Tennis Borussia Berlin in the Junior Bundesliga Northeast, where he was discovered by the then Hansa Rostock coach Frank Pagelsdorf . Then Timo Lange , the coach of the Oberliga amateurs, brought him to FC Hansa. In the 2005/06 season , his first season in the adult area, Yelen scored 14 goals in the top division in 30 games for Rostock's second team. For the 2006/07 season he moved up to the second division team, in which he developed into a regular player and playmaker, scored five goals in 26 missions and at the end of the season rose to the 1st Bundesliga with Hansa .

Due to his performances in the second Bundesliga, he was also appointed to the Turkish U-21 national team and played his first game for them on February 7, 2007.

In the following Bundesliga season 2007/08 , Yelen completed 20 games for the Ostseestädter, but rose with them immediately back to the 2nd Bundesliga, whereupon Yelen initially sought a move to Turkey, which, however, did not materialize due to a lack of financial security. Subsequently, Yelen came due to an injury in the first half of the 2008/09 season only to two missions for Hansa, tried again to force a move to Turkey and, after this again failed, was reassigned Rostock's second team. At the end of the season, his contract in Rostock was finally dissolved, whereupon Yelen moved to the Turkish first division club Trabzonspor .

In July 2011, Yelen was signed by the second division club FSV Frankfurt . Yelen was a regular in the central midfield of Bornheimer from the start and was also responsible for the standards of the FSV: Of the five league goals in the 2011/12 season, he scored three with a penalty and one with a directly converted free kick, plus another free kick goal DFB Cup. After 20 start-up appearances, his one-year contract was automatically extended until summer 2013.

After Yelen left Frankfurt in the summer of 2015, he was initially without a club. At the beginning of October 2015, Yelen moved to the regional league team Berliner AK 07 , with whom he missed the championship of the Regionalliga Nordost . For the 2016/17 season, Yelen joined the regional league team FSV Wacker 90 Nordhausen .
