Görlitz, the eastern representative in the Zipfelbund, is not the municipality with the easternmost point in Germany, this is in the northern neighboring municipality of Neißeaue .

history

On the occasion of the central celebrations for the Day of German Unity in Wiesbaden in 1999 , the Zipfelbund was brought into being and sealed with the Zipfelpakt . In it, the four “Tipfelgemeinde” commit themselves to maintain the exchange at the administrative level as well as the coordination and joint activities in civic engagement.

A first meeting of the mayors of List, Oberstdorf, Görlitz and Selfkant took place on May 9 and 10, 1998 in Selfkant. The establishment of the Zipfelbund was prepared at the second meeting in List on Sylt.

The Zipfelbund has been presenting itself regularly since 1999 on the national mile at the central celebrations for the Day of German Unity. He presents the specially developed products: After the sausage with four tips, the Zipfel-Journal and the Zipfelpass, since 2004 there has been a special Deutsche Post AG card that honors the Zipfelbund under the title “Adventure Germany” and a special stamp to celebrate the Had hung up the day.

In 2008, the “Deutsche Zipfel Prize” was awarded for the first time. It is awarded to personalities or institutions who have made a special contribution to social issues in Germany.
