In [[2008]], The current pupils at [[Strabane High School]] will be educated at Strabane Grammar School. [[Strabane High School]] will be closed, due to the non-sustainability of their enrolment. Strabane Grammar School will have much construction within the next few years to cater for the new pupils. Strabane Grammar School will subsequently increase its enrolment to 650 pupils and to cater for this, the school will relocate to a new, state of the art building which will be built on the Derry Road. Lewis Lacey will, most probably, be the principal of the new academic institution. |

For the past 9 years, the school has ranked 1<sup>st</sup> out of all Controlled Grammar Schools in the west of Northern Ireland concerning exam results, and has been placed several times among the top 100 state schools in the UK.<br />In 2005, three Year 12 Pupils from the school participated in a UK-wide physics challenge, in which the team emerged in second place, stopped just short of winning the competition by a private school in England. {{Fact|date=February 2007}} |
