Hi, and welcome to the [[WP:AVIATION|Aviation WikiProject]]! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to aviation.

Dudley was born in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1876 to an upper-class family. Her father, Trevanion B. Dallas had moved to Nashville in 1869 and established himself as an entrepreneur in the textile industry.<ref name="perfect">{{cite book|title=The Perfect 36: Tennessee Delivers Woman Suffrage|first=Carol Lynn|last=Yellin|coauthors=Janann Sherman|year=1998|pages=53–55}}</ref> Dudley was educated at Ward's Seminary and Price's College for Young Ladies, both in Nashville.<ref>{{cite news|title=Mrs. Dudley Sr. Dies at Home|work=The Tennessean|date=September 14, 1955}}</ref> In 1902, she married Guilford Dudley, a banker and insurance broker.<ref name="perfect"/>
A few features that you might find helpful:

In September 1911, Dudley, along with Maria Daviess and Ida Clyde Clark, founded the Nashville Equal Suffrage League, an organization dedicated to building local support for [[women's suffrage]]. Wow! You're off to an incredible start, keep up the good work in creating aircraft articles! There is a template available to assist you if you wish to use it, {{tl|aerostart}}. You just create the page with <nowiki>{{subst:aerostart}}</nowiki>, then fill in the blanks. This sets up the page in they stand layout so that all aircraft pages have the same basic style. Anyways, I'm sure I'll see you around the project. Thanks and welcome!- [[User:Trevor MacInnis|Trevor]] [[User talk:Trevor MacInnis|MacInnis]] <small>([[Special:Contributions/Trevor MacInnis|Contribs]])</small> 21:10, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

:I'll second that! Welcome aboard! :) If it's aircraft that you're specifically interested in, you might also want to sign up at [[WP:AIR|WikiProject Aircraft]]. I've just been over your recent contributions, making a few changes to line them up with the project standards. I won't subject you to a blow-by-blow account of what I've done - you can see that for yourself by visiting the articles. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop a note on [[User talk:Rlandmann|my talk page]] or the [[WT:AIR|WikiProject Aircraft discussion page]]. ==A few tips==
[[Category:People from Nashville, Tennessee]]
Now that you seem to be getting settled in, just a few unsolicited formatting tips!
* Many of the types you're contributing articles on are one-off prototypes. This will mean that many of the standard article fields and sections will be irrelevant or inappropriate. In particular, please don't insert data into the "main user", "introduced", "retired", and "status" fields of the infobox, or the "operators" section of the article body. Or, if you really want to, just make a note like "prototype only" in the status field. Keep in mind that the infobox fields are descriptive of an aircraft ''project'', even if only one example was built. We don't usually include notes like "never" - we just leave the field blank.
* Please wiki engine and weapon types when they appear in the specifications section, and within the article text too, at your discretion.
* Units of measurement must have a space in front of them, so always "162 mph", not "162mph", "110 hp", not "110hp".
* Don't wiki dates unless there is some specific reason to do so; and linking countries is probably only useful in really obscure cases where you think readers may not have heard of the place.
* Since you're contributing articles on fighters at the moment, it will be easy for you to pick up the relevant part of the category scheme. It always follows the pattern nation-role-decade, with the "decade" part being the decade in which the type first flew, so: "British fighter aircraft 1910-1919", "United States fighter aircraft 1960-1969". There are a few little "gotchas" when it comes to nations whose names have changed over the years - you can always browse down the category tree from [[:Category:Fighter aircraft]] if you're unsure, or just sing out for help if you need it.
* Many manufacturers have their own category as well, and perhaps a navigational footer too. You can look for these under [[:Category:Aircraft by manufacturer]] and [[:Category:Manufacturer-based aircraft navigational boxes]] respectively. The latter are a relatively new feature of the project, so there are still many gaps.
* Please include author details for books, thus:
**{{cite book |last=Green |first=William |coauthors= Gordon Swanborough |title=The Complete Book of Fighters |publisher=Salamander Books|location=Godalming, UK|pages= }}
Sorry to bombard you - hope that isn't information overload! And if I haven't explained anything properly, please just ask :) --[[User:Rlandmann|Rlandmann]] ([[User talk:Rlandmann|talk]]) 21:41, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

:Thanks, sorry if I've been messing up the formatting, I've never done this before :D. I'll keep it in mind though. [[User:LGF1992UK|LGF1992UK]] ([[User talk:LGF1992UK#top|talk]]) 16:47, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

::No! Please don't think of it as "messing up" anything! We were all new here once and you have absolutely nothing to apologise for - you're getting the hang of things very quickly. As a further exercise that I think might help, I actually left a step-by-step annotated cleanup of the Fairey F.2 article, which you can see [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fairey_F.2&action=history here]. If you click on the word "last" near the start of each line, you can see a comparison of the "before" and "after". --[[User:Rlandmann|Rlandmann]] ([[User talk:Rlandmann|talk]]) 20:59, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

== RAF Squadron template ==

Fantastic work - I can't believe no-one had done that yet! I've moved the template to a more conventional name: {{tl|RAF squadrons}}. The only "gotcha" I can see is that there's a very solid trend on Wikipedia to standardise these tables using the {{tl|navbox}} format, which (among other things) allows large navboxes like this one to be collapsed down out of view. But don't worry - someone else will no doubt address this at some point (even me, if I get the time). In the meantime, you should feel free to start rolling it out across the squadron articles. Maybe you should also check to see that we have equivalent templates for the Wings and Commands as well? --[[User:Rlandmann|Rlandmann]] ([[User talk:Rlandmann|talk]]) 20:38, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

:OK - that should do it. MILHIST may want to change the colour of the title bar - they use a Steel-blue. Why not ask for some input [[WT:MILHIST|here]]? --[[User:Rlandmann|Rlandmann]] ([[User talk:Rlandmann|talk]]) 21:37, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

== Bernard ==

Looks fine to me - we need as many of these as we can get, certainly any manufacturer with more than 2-3 designs should have one.

Just a word of warning - French designations work very differently from how English-speakers expect them to. Designations starting "H" are not a separate sequence; they simply mean ''Hydravion'' (which I guess you know is "seaplane") and should be included in the main sequence.

The other big gotcha is that the final digit in a designation often just indicates a subtype. So while the Americans or Germans would go '''Foo 12A''' followed by '''Foo 12B''' and '''Foo 12C''', the French would go '''Foo 120''' followed by '''Foo 121''' and '''Foo 122'''.

So, for example, it's hard to know at first glance whether something like the Bernard H.52 is a "model 52" or a "model 5C".

Some helpful sites when "fleshing out" these templates include the [http://sirismm.si.edu/siris/aboutairplanedirectory.htm ''The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum Directory of Airplanes: their Designers and Manufacturers''], the [http://www.mda.org.uk/aircraft/index.htm RAF Museum Thesaurus], and for French types, [http://www.aviafrance.com/firmes.php aviafrance.com]. Revision as of 21:40, 12 October 2008

This photograph of Dudley with her children was widely circulated with suffrage publicity materials in an effort to counteract stereotypes of suffragists as mannish radicals.[1]

Anne Dallas Dudley ((née Anne Dallas; November 13, 1876 – September 13, 1955) was a prominent activist in the women's suffrage movement in the United States.

Dudley was born in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1876 to an upper-class family. Her father, Trevanion B. Dallas had moved to Nashville in 1869 and established himself as an entrepreneur in the textile industry.[2] Dudley was educated at Ward's Seminary and Price's College for Young Ladies, both in Nashville.[3] In 1902, she married Guilford Dudley, a banker and insurance broker.[2]

In September 1911, Dudley, along with Maria Daviess and Ida Clyde Clark, founded the Nashville Equal Suffrage League, an organization dedicated to building local support for women's suffrage. At the time, almost all men and a majority of women opposed the idea of women participating in the political process.[2] Dudley was selected as the organization's first president. During her presidency, she led the first suffrage parade in the South and brought the National Suffrage Convention to Nashville.[4] In 1915, Dudley resigned in order to serve as president of the Tennessee Equal Suffrage Association, a post she retained until 1917 when she became the Third Vice President of the National American Women Suffrage Association.[5] In 1920, Dudley was selected as the first female delegate-at-large to the National Democratic Convention.[6]

Dudley died unexpectedly on September 13, 1955, of a coronary occlussion at her home in Belle Meade, Tennessee.[4] She is buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Nashville.[1]

Dudley is one of three women featured in the Tennessee Woman's Suffrage Memorial in Knoxville, Tennessee.[7]
