News
*48 Hours Mystery (1988-present)
*60 Minutes (1968-present)
*CBS Evening News (1952-present)
*CBS Morning News (1957-present)
*CBS News Sunday Morning (1979-present)

London's Centre for Young Musicians, or CYM, as it is more commonly known, is a Saturday music centre for children up to 18 who play an instrument currently run by Stephen Dagg. Anyone other than an absolute beginner is elegible for it, although there is an audition process. Many people apply every year but unfortunately not all can get through.
Soap Opera
*As the World Turns (1956-present)
*The Bold and the Beautiful (1987-present)
*Guiding Light (1952-present)
*The Young and the Restless (1973-present)

A standard timetable consists of a 30-minute lesson (some students have a 45 or 60 minute lesson), choir, musicianship, and where applicable, an instrumental ensemble. It's only until students reach Yrs 11-13 that they can opt out of choir and/or musicianship but many choose to carry on, seeing them as valuable opportunities in their musical education. Other classes include special Grade 5 Theory, composition and various ensembles and band to further their playing skills. An accompanist is available for students to practice with prior to concerts or exams.
Drama
*Cold Case (2003-present)

*Swingtown (2008-present)
*The Unit (2006-present)
*Without a Trace (2002-present)

Many pupils from CYM also take part in the LSSO (London Schools Symphony Orchestra) or the LYWB (London Youth Wind Band), both great opportunities for students wishing to pursue a career in music and would like the experience of playing in an orchestra - especially in prestigious venues - although, of course, standards are very high so usually only the advanced students get to take part.
Sitcom
*How I Met Your Mother (2005-present)

The CYM Dance Band and LYWB will be going on a tour of Germany in July 2008. They will also be playing in other venues in London before and after their tour dates.

New shows, and shows on the bubble
Twentieth has given CBS boss Leslie Moonves episodes of "Back to You" to screen as part of its bid to set up the comedy at the network. Fox canceled the Kelsey Grammer-Patricia Heaton show over the weekend, forcing sister studio 20th to find a new home for the project.

Ironically, CBS had been mentioned as a home for "Back to You" a year ago, before it landed at Fox. Heaton is the former star of CBS' "Everybody Loves Raymond," while CBS several years ago tried to get Grammer to star in a spinoff of "Frasier." The network is hoping to open a new night of comedy beyond its Monday lineup, and a Grammer-Heaton project could be a solid anchor for such an extension.

Revision as of 19:09, 12 October 2008

London's Centre for Young Musicians, or CYM, as it is more commonly known, is a Saturday music centre for children up to 18 who play an instrument currently run by Stephen Dagg. Anyone other than an absolute beginner is elegible for it, although there is an audition process. Many people apply every year but unfortunately not all can get through.

The CYM Dance Band and LYWB will be going on a tour of Germany in July 2008. They will also be playing in other venues in London before and after their tour dates.

The 2008 annual CYM concert was held on Sunday 16th March 2008.
