The Entertainment Industries Council is a non-profit organization founded in 1983 that promotes the depiction of health and social issues in film, television, music, and comic books. The Council provides guidelines on the depictions of these issues to the entertainment industry, generally promoting content that includes negative consequences of dependency and violence. It also honors entertainment that it considers to provide realistic views of these issues at two awards ceremonies: the PRISM Awards concentrate on drug, alcohol and tobacco issues; and the EDGE Awards concentrate on the issues of gun safety and gun violence.[1]
