A tag has been placed on :Franklin Thomas Lett, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add <code>hangon</code> on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.<!-- Template:Nn-warn --> Coren 02:04, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Mike, may I be the first to welcome to Wikipedia!

Some links for you, some of which you might put on your watchlist :-

Regarding the Cape Argus, I suggest you Be Bold and take a stab at fixing it yourself, I doubt anyone will object, especially as you have stated your intentions on the Talk page. You might also check Media in South Africa as well. Questions? Feel free to ask on my Talk page. Again, Welcome! Wizzy 21:32, 20 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure that the Argus staff are the right people to fix it. Wikipedia has got as far as it has because you and I can just pitch in. There is an attitude among veteran wikipedia contributors that it is better just to fix it (I will now) that to waste effort and hot air on talk pages (like I am doing :-). We love new contributors - there is a community of South African editors ( User:Jcw69 and User:Elf-friend come to mind). Find something you care about, look for a page on it already, ot write one yourself. I spend spare time geo-tagging places around africa, so you can get straight to a google maps satellite picture of Victoria Falls (say). Check my contributions - you could do the same. There is a low barrier to entry. Wizzy 07:03, 21 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Your philosophy is the one I usually follow myself but I felt that a newspaper might have an interest in its own wikipedia image and might want to take a look if nothing else and add any missing information about the newspaper themselves to their main entry (if there is one). Personally, I think that the best authority on any entity is that entity itself, although that doesn't by any means guarantee an accurate article and an unbiased one even less. French convention

Mike, you ought to know that, though the English convention is Marquis of Lafayette, the French convention is marquis de Lafayette. Capitalizing in French looks as odd as failing to capitalize Kapital in German. Just a thing to know. --Wetman 16:33, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
