Issues?

Your inappropriate, outdated and/or derogatory posts of late indicate you seem to have a problem with the neighbourhood of Ramsay. Please find another outlet. Wikipedia isn't the forum to act out your personal agendas.

I do not understand your comments. The information I added is backed up by the latest data available and complements what was previously written. There is no information available regarding the new telephone area code for the city or more recent census data. --Kuikentje 17:26, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry. Clearly a misunderstanding on my part. Let's move on, shall we?

Kudos, by the way. I see that you have just added to the demographic information for the community of Downtown East Village, Calgary. After the statistic on neighbourhood median income, you wrote: " As a reference, in 2000 the median household income for the whole city of Calgary was $57,879.[1]"

Ok, I really feel bad now for my earlier comments. Clearly, you have unselfishly taken it upon yourself to use the best available 7 year-old information to update the financial demographic information for each of the 186 Calgary neighbourhoods featured on Wikipedia.

I did notice that for the East Village, you didn't include a percentage difference between the city and community median incomes as you did for Ramsay, Calgary (by undoing earlier edits) For the sake of continuity, I think this would be an insightful and relevant figure to include as you work through the remaining community profiles. As my way of saying 'Sorry', I've done the math for you on Downtown East Village, Calgary. The median income of the average Calgarian in 2000 was approx. 350% more than that of the average East Village dweller. Whew! Two down. Just 184 to go! I look forward to watching your progress!

Cheers,

Thank you for writing. But please do not feel bad for anything! My plan is to upadate the information for the Calgary neighbourhoods, but I realized it is a very challenging task. I use a dial-up connection to access the Internet and updating information will be very time consuming.

However, that is the goal I set for myself. I started with Ramsay because that is where my heart belongs: it is the neighbourhood where I have been living for the past 23 years! There are still many communities to be updated. In case you have some free time, please go ahead and work through the Calgary community profiles.

Regards,

PS It seems to me the percentage of 350% you calculated is not quite right. I used my calculator and got a different result.

You're right. Like my highschool math teacher used to say, "Show the work!" $57,879-$16,334 / $16,334 = 2.54 Hence, the average Calgarians income was approx. 250% higher.
