Ashley Davies is a fictional character on the television series South of Nowhere. She attended King High School before she got a 12.5 million dollar inheritance and is potrayed by Mandy Musgrave.

Season One

Family problems

Ashley Davies was born on April 21, 1989. She was raised into a wealthy family, mostly by her mother. Her father was Raife Davies, a rock star who slept around a lot, did drugs, and was rarely home at all due to his constant touring with his band, Purple Venom. Her mother is a socialite who is almost never home. Her parents were divorced when Ashley was eight years old, so she only saw her dad on special occasions such as her birthday. Ashley suffers from being neglected, and as a result tends to crave attention; she spends her entire life searching for love, but the instant she finds it (such as with Spencer or Aiden), she pushes it away because she doesn't know how to handle it and believes she will only cause the other person pain. She manages to deal with her family problems, though, because Spencer helps her along the way.

Relationship with Aiden

In the first episode, it was revealed that in one point in her life Ashley was dating Aiden Dennison. After the two slept together, Ashley discovered that she was pregnant. Ashley was going to keep the baby, saying that she wanted somebody who she could finally love and who could always love her back, but instead suffered a miscarriage. The two broke up, probably because of the miscarriage; it is said that Ashley then turned to girls (but according to the webisode 'Before Spencer', Ashley had been bisexual before Aiden), and slept around with various nameless girls quite often. After the breakup Ashley and Aiden rarely spoke, but are now good friends again thanks to both of their involvement with Spencer.

Enemies with Madison

Madison Duarte and Ashley were once friends in freshman year of highschool, but once Aiden took an interest in Ashley, Madison became jealous and broke off their friendship. Madison make fun of Ashley because of her sexuality and found great enjoyment in harassing her, but during Prom at the end of Season Two she apologized, saying that she finally understood how much grief Ashley and Spencer had went through in order to be together.

Relationship with Spencer

When Spencer arrived at King High in October of junior year, the first person she asked for help in finding her way around was Ashley. Ashley, who was rude to her at first but who later apologized, instantly became close friends with Spencer, opened her world to a vast array of new possibilities, and started visibly developing feelings for her. It was clear that Spencer, who was beginning to discover her true sexuality due to Ashley, returned those feelings, but Ashley kept pushing her away because she "wanted [her], but she didn't want to hurt [her]". Spencer told her that she could not only take care of herself but Ashley as well, and the two shared a kiss that lead to both intercourse and the start of their relationship.

Season Two

Relationship with Spencer

As Spencer and Ashley's relationship progresses, Spencer tries to keep their love a secret, but Ashley wants it out in the open. She pressures Spencer to come out to her parents, but she is too afraid of what her devout Catholic mother, Paula, will think. When Spencer's mother walks in on Spencer and Ashley during an intimate moment, she reacts angrily and throws Ashley out of the house; she also tells Spencer that she can't go to school because she doesn't want her to see Ashley. She hires a sexual therapist to "straighten her out", but it doesn't work: Paula now tolerates Ashley and Spencer's relationship.

Her Father's Death

In season two, Ashley and her father have a 17th birthday dinner for her, to which Spencer is invited. Afterwards, while watching TV, Ashley discovers that her father had died only a short while later in a tragic car accident. Ashley is reasonably upset with her father's death and pushes Spencer away, but is even more upset at the fact that her father kept a secret from her: her half sister.

The Other Daughter

At her dad's funeral, Ashley discovers that she has a half sister (Kyla) and she realizes that all she ever knew about her dad was a lie. Ashley doesn't like Kyla because of what she represents (her father's lies) and Ashley becomes angry when Spencer tries to integrate Kyla into their group. They eventually bond and become very close, moving into a loft together; they both bought the loft with the money they inherited and shared from their father.

Season Three

The Break Up

Following the shooting, Ashley left for Europe with her mother because she "just couldn't deal". During her time away she didn't talk to Spencer, who had just lost her brother. Upon returning she tried to talk to her, but Spencer wasn't ready and only pushed her away. Ashley later tricked Spencer into talking; the two briefly kissed, but Spencer decided to break it off because Ashley wasn't there for her when Clay, her brother, died, and because Ashley "didn't know what she wanted". This prompted Ashley to sleep with Aiden, which Spencer found out about after Ashley showed up at school on the back of Aiden's motorcycle. This further angered Spencer.

After getting her inheritance, Ashley offered Spencer a trip to Cabo, but she declined because they both needed to figure out their own paths in life. The night before Ashley left, she talked to Spencer and tried once more to keep her in her life. After hanging up the phone, she turned over to face Aiden, and it is clear that she had slept with him yet again.

Dropping Out

After getting her inheritance, Ashley decided to drop out of high school and get her GED with Kyla.

Back with Spencer

In the mid-season finale, entitled 'Gay Pride', it is said that Spencer and Paula had been fighting about going to the Pride Festival. Paula tries to convince Spencer that she can't go because of her schedule at work, but Spencer is sure that she doesn't want to go because she's homophobic. Ashley convinces Paula to go by asking her what she is truly afraid of, and by telling her to go to Pride "as [her] mom for the day", since "God knows [she] could use one every now and then". Paula and Ashley go to Pride together and meet Arthur and Spencer there, and Spencer finally realizes why she really fell in love with her in the first place. After the festival, Spencer calls Ashley and says that "now it's [her] turn to open her front door" (which she is standing behind; a direct reference to 'Can't Buy Me Love', where Ashley tells her to do the same thing before offering her the trip to Cabo). Ashley does, and Spencer is standing there with a trench coat on; she drops it to reveal that she is naked, and they finally kiss.
