As part of the Transformation of the US Army from a Division-based structure to a Brigade-based army; the Division Support Commands, Corps Support Groups, & Area Support Groups are being inactivated or transformed to Sustainment Brigades (previously called Sustainment Units of Action (SUS)).

The Sustainment Brigade is designed to provide Command & Control for combat service & combat service support units as well as logistics management functions for up to a Corps-sized formation.

As of the last published information, there will be 16 Sustainment Brigades (11 Active Duty/8 Reserve or National Guard)
