Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you!<!-- Template:Tilde --> --SineBot (talk) 01:36, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I've nominated Mary Gilmore and the history of Wagga Wagga, an article you worked on, for consideration to appear on the Main Page as part of Wikipedia:Did you know. You can see the hook for the article at Template talk:Did you know#Articles created/expanded on January 4, where you can improve it if you see fit.
*Congratulations - it will take a few days before this article is up for possible inclusion and placement on the Main Page - you will be notified but you should also keep watching the page here in case the Admins dealing with this part ask you any further questions. Hello GeorgeVM, and Welcome to Wikipedia!

Please remember to sign your name on talk pages by clicking or using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username and the date. Also, please do your best to always fill in the edit summary field. Below are some useful links to facilitate your involvement.

Happy editing! —αἰτίας discussion 23:13, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

 • Hi George - I have just reverted a major deletion that you completed at History of Wagga Wagga. Not sure what your intentions were but I am assuming on good faith that you either have a plan or it was a mistake. Please can you use the edit summary system to let other editors know as to what you are doing. Indeed if you go to the My Preferences tab at the top of your page you can adjust your personal system so that you will be prompted on each occasion that you forget to put in an edit summary. If you need any help please just ask. Cheers --VS talk 22:46, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
 • A good plan GeorgeVM, cheers. PS Feel free to add headings to talk pages as this allows the archiving system to function correctly (I have filed your comment under Mary Gilmore) and also do not forget the 4 tildes ~~~~ after your entry so that the robot does not sign for you. Keep editing! --VS talk 23:47, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again GeorgeVM - this article is likely to qualify for your first Did you know for which you get a special award - and of course you get the added benefit of having it listed on the Main Page (and thereby get numerous other editors to put in their 2 cents worth). Please just go to the Did You Know page I have linked to above, to upload it via the system - BUT if you find that a bit daunting as a new editor let me or Mattinbgn know (an experienced editor and fellow admin) and we will be able to help.--VS talk 23:56, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

 • Okay I'd be happy to help by nominating it for you - please can you provide me with a "hook" which is defined as a short and concise sentence of fewer than about 200 characters, including spaces - which will give readers coming to the main page a reason to click on the article. Please go here Template:Did you know and look at Current Hooks for some examples. Once you have a hook send it to me as your suggestion and I will assist from there.--VS talk 00:57, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
 • A good start but you need to consider that the Hook should be related to Mary Gilmore (indeed her name needs to be in the Hook itself). Suggest you have a quick look at this link which should help you a bit more: Wikipedia:DYK#The_hook.--VS talk 01:46, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
 • Cool - sorry I have been away (working) for a couple of hours - if you don't mind I think Matt's version has a bit more bait - so I will load it up for you at WP:DYK and provide you with a link shortly.--VS talk 05:00, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I should also mention that given your interest and quality of editing regarding this a Riverina related articles - you might like to join up at Wikipedia:WikiProject Riverina along with the handful of other dedicated members. Membership is Free :) and you pick up great titbits on things we have developed over the last couple or three years. We would very much welcome you on board.--VS talk 00:03, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mary Gilmore and the History of Wagga Wagga

Hi George and great work on the article so far. I have been watching your work on Cootamundra for a little while and I am pleased to see you start on Wagga.

Can I make a suggestion on the above article? The content is fine, but as a big slab of text it could use breaking up into sections. If you can think of some appropriate section headings and add them, it would improve the readability of the article.

Further, I would like to add my own welcome to you. If you have any queries at all, please feel free to contact me on my talk page or raise the issue at Wikipedia:Australian Wikipedians' notice board. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 01:12, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
