Iranian peoples

Hi, you recently contributed to a discussion and poll at Iranian peoples. It turns out that around the same time somebody was lobbying for contributions to that poll on an external website ("Vote for Iranian Turks on Wikipedia"). The signature of that poster points to a blog owned by someone who calls himself "Persian Magi" ([1]). This might of course just be a coincidence, but I'd just like to ask you nevertheless if that was you. If not, please forgive the intrusion; if yes, please refrain from such outside lobbying in the future, as it is forbidden under policy (WP:SOCK#Advertising and soliciting single-purpose accounts). It seems like someone has in fact read my weblog and in fact disliked it. Read his signature: am not sure why the person in the "Vote for Iranian Turks on Wikipedia" Fortunately, he does not say, the weblog is his. He might be someone I know or he might know me! When are we Going to See Proof that Azaris are Genetically Turkic

Please keep an eye on Azari and the talk:Azari. I have started the following in the discussion.

It has been ages since these citations have not been verified. Verification is needed. If not delete the material. the amount of time granted has been generious. The Azaris Iranian background has been verified through various scientific and academic sources, but the Turkic claim has not. The only think that has been verified is the Turkic langauge. 72.57.230.179

But Azerbaijani in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani spoken in Iran are the same language, so shouldn't it be in the same tepmlate? —Khoikhoi 01:56, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

That's the point I was making, if Template:User mo-2 uses both scripts, along with Template:User mn-1, Template:User sh-1—shouldn't we have a template that includes both the Cyrillic and Persian scripts in, because it's the same language? Having two different templates might confuse people into thinking they're distinct languages. —Khoikhoi 02:03, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Exactly, which is why I suggest that we have both scripts in one template, something for all kinds of Azeris (including the old guys who might still use Cyrillic ;)) But then again, maybe the Rep. of Azerbaijan people might not be too happy, I still support having one template however. —Khoikhoi 02:10, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Two Articles in need of your attention

There are two entries at Wikipedia, which have falsely created -- they are Turco-Persian and Turko-Persian Tradition. Both entries are factitious. I have requested the entries to be deleted. My reasons are:

The term Turko-Persian Tradition (or Turco-Persian) does not exists academically and it is a factitious entry! Check the Encyclopaedia Iranica to confirm -- The correct name for that culture is the Persianate culture not the "Turko-Persian". Turkophones (mostly of mixed race and Persianized in culture) only spoke in Turkic dialects and were in the military. That is not enough participation in creating and forming the culture to deserve the name "Turko-Persian Tradition" – This is misinformation. All the elements in that area, which have to do with tradition and culture, were drawn from the Iranian culture (Persian, Kurdish, Azari, Baluchi, Tajik, Luri, Gilaki, Talishi, Mazandarani, etc.), and the Islamic faith, not much Turkic elements (like shamanism, yurts etc.) were incorporated in. That is what makes the name "Turko-Persian" an imaginary one and therefore the entry should be deleted.

Persian culture

Sure! I will work on it when I have some free time. It is indeed true that religions have influenced Iranian culture and vice versa. Perhaps Ta'zieh which is inspired by historical as well as religious events is one of those examples. Religions inspired several Iranian festivals. Iranians have special dishes and cookies during Ramedan etc which are now a part of Iranian culture. Also sufi tradition has had manifestations in Iranian literature and poetry. However religions especially Islam have some aspects that are not considered a part of iranian culture (like khoms, zakat, jahad, standard prays etc). The latters are infact culture independent. Please see also: Islam in Iran and Religious intellectualism in Iran. Zoroastrianism is ofcourse integral to Iranian culture. Take care.Sangak 18:01, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
