* As the first hook is England-related, and British English favours the usage of hyphens, it might be more suitable to use ''spoon-like'' instead of ''spoonlike''. Just an idea. Error reports
Please only post error reports regarding what is currently on the Main Page or on Main Page/Tomorrow here.
For general main page discussions, go to Talk:Main Page.

Main Page error reports

To report an error you have noticed on the current Main Page or tomorrow's Main Page please add it to the appropriate section below. You can do this by pressing the [edit] button to the right of the appropriate section's heading. Also, please sign your post using four tildes (~~~~)

Note that the current date and time are in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), which may not coincide with your local time zone. The next day's featured article of the day, picture of the day, and anniversaries update at midnight (00:00) according to UTC. The current time is 08:55 on May 27, 2024 (UTC). (Update)

Once an error has been fixed, the error report will be removed from this page; please check the page's history to verify that the error has been rectified and for any other comments the administrator may have made. Lengthy discussions should not take place here, and should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere.

References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error, and a suggested rewording is helpful with a stylistic complaint. The main page usually defers to supporting pages when there is disagreement, so it is best to achieve consensus and make any necessary changes there first.

Errors in the summary of Today's featured article on the Main Page

  • Two errors:
    • Two-thirds down, in After a three year hiatus, three year ought to be hyphenated.
    • At the very end, the logical-quotation format should be used (the closing quotation mark ought to precede the full stop).
  • Waltham, The Duke of 03:06, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • Fixed. What do you think about the commas in the "pop, soul and rock to gospel and classical" list? I'd personally put more commas there, like "pop, soul, and rock, to gospel and classical". --Elonka 03:43, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
      • It depends on the article in question. From a quick check, I've seen that serial commas are used consistently throughout the Celine Dion article, so the intro and main page blurb should use them as well. I'll take the article and you can take the main page (the reverse is impossible). Waltham, The Duke of 04:06, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
        • So tweaked. I'd probably also change "large, impoverished" to "large impoverished", but that's just me. Probably not worth another change.  :) --Elonka 04:25, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
          • Mission accomplished on my side as well. There were a couple of spaced em-dashes which bothered me, and then I realised that the American format was used for quotation marks, while the Manual of Style encourages a logical format. Perhaps you'd like to check if I've made any serious errors.
          • As far as Celine Dion's family is concerned, I think it's better off with the comma, which separates the different elements. Removing it would make the sentence's meaning more like "out of impoverished families, hers was a large one". Waltham, The Duke of 04:46, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Main Image on Celine Dion article

I've nominated it for deletion on Commons, it's almost certainly a copyvio. If you have a look at the other images uploaded by the same Flickr contributor on the same day as the Celine one [1] You'll see various copyrighted screenshots and images from websites falsely licensed under Creative Commons tags. Thanks for the notice. I see you raised it on the talk page too, I suggest we all go comment there. -- lucasbfr talk 13:40, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Errors in In the news

The item on Bertie Ahern is misleading. He has not resigned, he announced that he will be resigning on May 6th or 9th (I'm not sure which) 159.134.52.253 (talk) 15:00, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Follow-up and old items

This holding area is for items that require further follow-up (for example, a general point that needs to be raised elsewhere), or for items that haven't been dealt with but where the topic under discussion is no longer on the Main Page. The items listed here should eventually be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as:
