Crabble Stadium

Hi. The "Crabble Athletic Ground" is in The history of non-league football grounds by K Miller, page 98. things to add :

• The new grandstand was officially opened on August 25th 1951.
• In 1952, the Supporters' Association finance (around 3000£) to cover terracing on the bank.
• The Chelsea team included Alan Harris and Terry Venables. (floodflight first game)

Hi. Thanks for adding this image to BCFC, gives me a good reason to remove this season's third kit which is completely boring. I've added it to Alec McClure, seeing as it's him wearing the shirt. Was wondering where you got 'circa 1911' from, though. According to Historical Kits we adopted that shirt c.1913, according to Tony Matthews Encyclopedia of BCFC it was 1914-15, and Keeping Right On the official history, which isn't all that reliable, carries the same picture captioned "... dated back to 1919/20 and is worn here by Alex McClure who led the club to the Second Division championship that season" (which he didn't, because it was the following season). cheers, Struway2 (talk) 10:02, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Hmmm. The shirt may well have been adopted that early, but McClure didn't join till 1912 (which I suppose is circa 1911). I'm sure the image is still PD-US though, whenever it was actually taken. McClure left in 1923 by which time he was 31, and the bloke in the picture doesn't look 31 to me. It has been reported, however my Google searches today have turned up nothing. Page 81. The full quote from the programme notes reads: "What a pleasure it was to entertain Gillingham. Of course it was heightened by the result, but they were worthy competitors. Excellent. I've now moved "my" Alf Bentley to Alf Bentley (footballer born 1887). Although he's probably more notable (having played most of his career in the top flight), I don't really see him as being the "primary topic" as such, given that a) he played a very long time ago b) there seems to be very little information on him, and c) I'm pretty sure the vast majority of Baggies fans wouldn't have heard of him anyway. --Jameboy (talk) 22:00, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey Chris, do we need toa dd more to this Coulsdon United F.C. article or what do I need to make it look like it doesn't need a stub status?? It would appear that what I predicted on 29th May last year has now happened: the version of the Hess article that Dover lifted for their site almost without editing as the biography of their new manager is being cited as evidence of the same claims here. I suppose the fact that they have made some changes means that they can be said to be verifying that which they did not change. It does make me wonder what I might have got away with claiming though. New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry.
