Fragaria nipponica is a species of strawberry native to the Japanese island of Honshu. While most varieties are wild, there is one garden variety Fragaria nipponica var. yakusimensis.
All Fragaria species have 7 types of chromosomes. Fragaria nipponica is diploid, having two pairs of these chromosomes for a total of 14 chromosomes.
